# PM SHRI Vidyalaya
**PM SHRI (PM Schools for Rising India)** is a flagship initiative of the Government of India aimed at developing selected schools as **exemplar schools** that reflect the vision of the **National Education Policy (NEP) 2020**. The initiative focuses on creating high-quality, inclusive, joyful and holistic learning environments for students.
PM SHRI Schools place strong emphasis on the **holistic development of every child**. The teaching-learning process goes beyond textbook-based instruction and promotes **experiential, activity-based, competency-based and skill-oriented learning**. Students are encouraged to develop creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, communication skills, collaboration and leadership qualities.
The initiative promotes the effective use of **ICT and digital technologies** in education. Smart teaching-learning practices, laboratory-based learning, innovation, arts and culture, sports, vocational education and skill development are integrated into the educational experience.
**Environmental sustainability** is another important focus of PM SHRI Schools. Students are encouraged to develop environmental awareness through activities related to water conservation, energy conservation, cleanliness, waste management, biodiversity, sustainable practices and the development of green school campuses.
